With Kenya geared towards achieving UHC (Universal Health Coverage), demand for affordable quality healthcare services is high, however, costs and convenience in access to health still lock numerous families out, especially for the elderly. This population is mostly abandoned in the rural areas. They are mostly affected by underlying chronic illnesses that need frequent medical attention. They are also most vulnerable to abject poverty in the post COVID-19 era. Families are getting more desperate; desperately needing reassurance of their health status; and the effect of poverty caused by poor health is beginning to take affect their mental health.
